Weak and Strong Points (10a)

“it’s never too late to be who you might have been.”— George eliot

The first suggestion David Rendall is "What's your problem?", and most of his argument is about how what is your biggest weakness that you notice within yourself. When you have a performance, do you evaluate yourself and have other evaluate you for feedback? The only way to improve ones self is to fix strengths, build on strengths and do both of them not focus on one. To attain the goals that are in reach one must recognize themselves to be self improved upon because not one person is ever at the best they can ever attain. Hard work must be put into a daily routine of oneself to foster a well-rounded person that will be able to produce and create things that maybe have never been thought about earlier in their own lives. This goal pertains to my life so often because I always doubt myself that I will never be the best or have a creative idea, yet the only way to strive to my goal is to learn about myself and let other critique me.

Flawless: there’s Nothing Wrong With You
“every limit is a beginning as well as an ending.”— George Eliot

Every person is different in this world much of what we do today is not going to affect of how others are going to treat us in the future. What people do remember are the features that we have and how we utilize ourselves as our own human being. There are so many people in this world, that is one of the reasons we have professions and strengths and weaknesses. Co-workers, employees and friends will always play as important things in your life such as when getting a job but things they look for when getting these jobs are the characteristics of yourself. Be yourself but of many of your weaknesses are being arrogant, impatient, obnoxious, boring, and unrealistic then your not getting anywhere very quick. Start to work on your strengths such as being responsible, enthusiastic, calm, reflective and assertive. Start a new attitude and end the old. Find an addiction, dyslexia, and disorganization and create a way to harness them and put towards strengths to change them but not put them away.

“great spirits have always experienced violent opposition from mediocre minds.”
—albert einstein

Theres a time in life to accept yourself and work on the abilities you have and embrace the gifts you were given not fix them. As said by Rendall, Its better to be exceptional than be just good at something. The uniqueness of the leaning tower of Pisa has brought millions of people to the town of Pisa, why would anyone try to fix such a strange and unique structure. Many builders and rulers of the city have tried to fix the tower of Pisa, in reality they should have never even bothered because who wants to go visit another tower that stands straight up. Pictures can be sold about the tower but never again would the tower hold is essence of uniqueness. I use this strategic ideal almost everyday by showing people that I may be just another person who is in college but i bring more than just being a student to the table. I am flexible and I can talk to nearly any person that can speak the english language or possibly even spanish. There are points in my life that I will not fix the things that may look different about me instead I will embrace them for who I am.

In this whole article what I have read I have noticed that one of my weaknesses is being well-rounded, I need to learn to professionalize in a practice. To be able to utilize my other skills that are strengths to the table would be incredible because to be able to work on my weaknesses that are not fully developed yet in my life. My strengths conclude with vocal, enthusiastic, passionate, adventurous, self-confident, and dedicated for the most part. My weaknesses come down to only a couple but really need to be focused on; unorganized, impatient, inconsistent and intimidating. These weaknesses can become my largest strengths which I will be able to utilize in the work force that I will be entering soon in my life.

Game Design. (9A)

Stranded

The group whom I worked with created a game called "Stranded", with a large and changeling mix of goals in the game. First, I want to explain what our game developed into. First the game started out as a regular person who is stuck on an island who has to collect food, tools, and build a shelter to live until he/she is saved.
The point I do not think that was presented in class as well as I would have liked was the game is competitive, not a free world one player individual game. Scattered based on how fast and how many items can be completed in the mission that is being played. The mechanics are simple, it is played on small interfaces like ipods, iphones, and gameboys. The objectives were changed throughout, the women who is the main character is on her way to crash her ex fiances wedding. While in the process of trying to crash it her plane crashes and she ends up on an island where she has to find other people in missions to get off the island and keep her emotions content.
Another point which was not really specified in the presentation in class were the sounds and animation design. The sound design will be more of a simple repetitive sounds that show point distribution and goals that are reached in when finished in a mission. The animations would light up which need to be completed just in most simple computer games. Much of this game will be a game of quick strategic thinking and point based for high scores which will make it easy to compete with other gamers.

Critiquing My Peers Animations (8B)

This week our blog assignment was to critique other students animations that were displayed and presented in our 203 Media (Creative Process) class.

With the simplicity of the "Sun Boy" animation, much can be said about the use of color and movement in the animation. I want to focus upon the color of the animation because Tyler really focuses on the Hue of the characters, superhero, and backdrop that was chosen. The characters are a straight black which contrast with the green background that givens no sense of affinity so that the viewer can easily differentiate the characters, ground and even the horizon. The brightness of the superhero and hue was chosen with the subconscious thought of a hero's display of happiness. The conscious objective of the hero is to display a happy, large, floating character, which had power, and represents life to the people the Sun Boy helps. The bright yellow color represents happiness in psychology, so as the objective of the character he represents nice weather, joy and determination of the boys keep playing ball with one another. Subjectively the saturation of the characters makes them seem just plain and no objective stance like Sun Boy gives off. Sun Boy has a face that exemplifies his character; he also talks with his mouth and is always brightening up the mood of others. Saturation of the lines in the face of the character Sun Boy shows that it is round which represents comfort, which is an obvious statement of objectivity. Color is very simple in the animation but small affects have lots of meaning like the old saying “ a picture can be worth a thousand words”.

In Vincent's animation he really displayed a great perception of lighting within the animation. The first lighting component I would like to focus on is the shadows used on the characters in one of the wide shots that was used. The white man who is portrayed as the villain actually has a bit of shadows on his body, his legs are put a bit into perspective by the light red color that surounds his legs. It gives weight to his legs and helps the character look more villainous which is the objective point the animator made. Subjectively the animator portrayed the man with the light saber as the powerful being in the animation because he is darker and obviously catches the villain who is running from him. Most of the symbolism was easily profound within the animation through colors, even though dark colors are recognized as a villain, the good guy ends up winning the battle. The characters contrast is didactic due to the colors that are used within the characters costumes. The dark colors show that the man in power is the man who has a face and can complete better superpowers. The white and gray shades are passive and looked over as kind of like a wolf chasing a sheep. The wolf chases who looks more aggressive and the sheep who runs only has the option to run. The mood set within the animation comes from the music, background, costumes, and characters emotional expressions on their faces. The music heats up as the character meet and run from one another, the background movement gives a quick sense of emotion and brings upon the scene.

In Gretchens' fight between both of the super heros of aqua woman and evaporation girl there was not a lot of movement but there is much to say by the little movement. Aqua woman was given the weight easily in the animation, she is much bigger and her colors portray good, which in most cases wins. On the other hand evaporation girl has very little power because of her insignificance of her portrayal in the wide shot, also her weak colors represent didactic weakness in the shot. Both characters paralleled each other as their movements were displayed, the objective of their movements were very light but each character gave off some sort of power from their hands. Tension is created through the characters slow movements and the tension was released when Aqua woman finally destroyed her evil villain evaporation girl. The overlapping movements were not coordinated with the characters, much of what the characters moved were simple and small movements. Even though the movements were small they were conscious examples of beginners movement of characters and showed the that the characters could portray themselves as a a hero and villain. The color was the main characteristic and line movement of them. The line movement led every shot and how the characters were effected by the environment they were in. Overlapping the movement did not really give much emphasis on the characters or the environment they were in though. The weight and line movement created the animation and gave the characters most of their emotion and mood.

                                                                            Richard

                                                                            The Smile

Each joke video was drastically different due to the approach of the directors on each production in the group. Richard was scripted very well and has lots of potential, yet the quality of the characters and shots were not done in a well mannered cinematic technique. The line usage in Richard is particularly unseen by the viewer because of the OTS camera blocks most of how the female character's emotions are portraying throughout the seen. In the smile much of the line usage is prominent in each shot, as an example; when the character on the left takes a sip of the red koolaid, the lines behind her are all leading towards the koolaid and her head which is focused on in the ECU. The objective of both videos was to put blame on the innocent by the trickster who in actuality was at fault, yet subjectively  the character at fault was only trying to get out of the situation.
The rhythm of each of the videos took vastly different approaches as in establishing shots and two shots that were more focused on. The contrast in Richard was the OTS that gave a sort of ambiguous emotion towards in the females character because much of her face could not be seen in the OTS. The affinity is very pragmatic and from the perspective of the characters eyes, each character had their own OTS. The smile created more of a third person point of view because of the wide shots that were used. The rhythm was kept at a slow pace with a slower dialogue than Richard yet it is simple and gave more emotion and less confusion in the beat. In conclusion I find that The Smile is the more appealing video because it has more flow with the plot and characters which are easily understood, yet richard was more ethical and realistic because of the age of the characters. The line rhythm in Richard was weak and very limited because of the large background the cinematographer was dealing with. In contrast, The Smile kept the beat simple by having a white background where the characters and lines were used successfully in the encapsulation of each shot of the joke.

6(b) Crash Bandicoot and Masks

My favorite video game, I currently still play on my off time. Everyone should have experienced the joyfulness that the Crash Bandicoot games brought to my life as a child. Enjoy
