Game Design. (9A)

Stranded

The group whom I worked with created a game called "Stranded", with a large and changeling mix of goals in the game. First, I want to explain what our game developed into. First the game started out as a regular person who is stuck on an island who has to collect food, tools, and build a shelter to live until he/she is saved.
The point I do not think that was presented in class as well as I would have liked was the game is competitive, not a free world one player individual game. Scattered based on how fast and how many items can be completed in the mission that is being played. The mechanics are simple, it is played on small interfaces like ipods, iphones, and gameboys. The objectives were changed throughout, the women who is the main character is on her way to crash her ex fiances wedding. While in the process of trying to crash it her plane crashes and she ends up on an island where she has to find other people in missions to get off the island and keep her emotions content.
Another point which was not really specified in the presentation in class were the sounds and animation design. The sound design will be more of a simple repetitive sounds that show point distribution and goals that are reached in when finished in a mission. The animations would light up which need to be completed just in most simple computer games. Much of this game will be a game of quick strategic thinking and point based for high scores which will make it easy to compete with other gamers.
